Animal care

Preparing the animals in case of emergency

The planning in case of emergency includes all family members- therefore also the animals. You can not keep the animals in most places offering shelter. It is important to have (par advance) the list of shelters, friends, family members, who could take care of your pet in case of potential danger. If you are planning to put the animal in a shelter, make sure that the place is really able to provide the necessary care for a long period of time and that it has got a sufficient plan in case of any dangerous event. If so happens that your family will be force to change the location of the shelter and it will not be able to take a pet with them, you should put your animal in one of the rooms in the house and provide him with a sufficient amount of food and water so it would last for all the time that you be separated.

Prepare a joint animal care kit for all of your pets, so you could take it with you when you will be leaving the house in the hurry. For the kit we recommend:

  • the papers of the pet (preferably with a picture) containing vaccination card, registration, the list of special needs, important medications, collar, leash and muzzle;
  • additional amount of animal food;
  • clean water;
  • bowls ( disposable dishes in case you will have to leave the house), can opener, dust bin bags, bleach, (disinfection agent and antiseptic), blankets, paper towels and other disposable items.
