The 60th Anniversary of the Ghetto Uprising
Ladies and Gentlemen
In a Polish government the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration (MSWiA) is responsible, among other things, for the issues concerning churches, religious unions, national and ethnic minorities.
The Department of Religion and National Minorities of MSWiA is involved in shaping the state policy towards religious groups as well as ethnic and minority communities. It is also responsible for the protection of the minorities rights and for providing the Polish citizens with a possibility to shape and practise their religious and national believes.
Supporting any type of cultural initiative of minorities and remembrance of places of the great importance (for various nationalities living in Poland) lies under the responsibility of the Minister of Culture, who is equipped to do so with special budget funds. An educational aspect of national minorities is supported by the Minister of National Education and Sport.
A very special place in works of MSWiA is taken by the Jewish community in Poland. The Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration is conducting a Governmental Strategic Program for the Oświęcim Area, with its main objective- to improve the accessibility of an ex- Auschwitz- Birkenau camp for pilgrims from all over the world. Another important objective of the program is to improve the teaching methods regarding Holocaust and nazi genocide. The International Centre of Education in Oświęcim was established in order to fulfil that objective.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration is, from the number of years, involved in providing security to the participants of The March of Living.
We invite you to seek information on national and ethnic minorities in Poland and on the history of Polish- Jewish relations.
