The Justice and Home Affairs Council, during its meeting on 27th October in Luxembourg, under the chairmanship of the Polish Presidency, adopted a European Pact against synthetic drugs.

The action taken by the governments of EU Member States to combat the illegal migration of foreigners crossing the borders of these countries will be the theme of this year's EMN conference, which will be held on 25th October in Warsaw.

The fifth EU Anti-trafficking Day will be held in Warsaw on Tuesday October 18th. It will be the first, since the publication in March this year, of EU directive 2011/36/EU on preventing and combating trafficking in human beings and protecting its victims.

Minister of the Interior and Administration Jerzy Miller met with MEPs at a breakfast policy briefing on the Schengen area.

Progress on EU-Russia cooperation in the fields of freedom, security and justice were the main topics on the agenda during the EU-Russia Ministerial Conference held on 10-11 of October in Warsaw.

The first formal session of the Justice and Home Affairs Council of the Polish Presidency took place in Brussels between the 22nd-23rdof September. The main topics discussed by the EU Home Affairs Ministers included the expansion of the Schengen area as well as the creation of a Common European Asylum System.

On 20 September 2011, a display of the interoperability and technologies of public order services took place at the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw.

An international conference devoted to personal data protection was held in Warsaw on 21 September. "Our goal is to create a reliable data protection system: it should be proportionate, effective and friendly," - commented Piotr Stachańczyk, an Under-Secretary of State in the Ministry of Interior and Administration.

In Nowa Dęba, in the Podkarpackie voivodship, the EU Carpathex 2011 rescue services exercise has ended. The Minister of Interior and Administration, Jerzy Miller and the EU Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response, Kristalina Georgieva took part in a special display on a railway ramp.

On July 18th, Sopot was the venue of the first meeting of interior (home) ministers of the European Union countries held as part of the Polish Presidency.
