Safety of stadiums, friendly management of borders, and efficient courts are only a few of the aspects of the preparations for the provision of security to the 2012 European Football Championship. Participants of the workshops for the so called leaders of areas, i.e. persons responsible for the coordination of actions performed by institutions and services taking part in the event, worked on the schedule for the performance of particular tasks.

It is been a year since on 18 April 2007 Poland and Ukraine were chosen as hosts of the European Football Championships in 2012.

The Polish-Ukrainian Intergovernmental Coordination Council for Interregional Cooperation held its 6^th meeting on 14 – 15 June 2007 in Arłamów (Podkarpackie Voivodeship). The Polish delegation was headed by Wiesław Tarka, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Interior and Administration, and the Ukrainian delegation was lead by Volodymyr Khandogiy, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

At a joint press conference held on 19 April 2007, the Minister of Interior and Administration, Janusz Kaczmarek, Minister of Justice, Zbigniew Ziobro, and Minister of Sports, Tomasz Lipiec, informed about preparations of their ministries as regards safety issues for the occasion of European Football Championships EURO 2012.

On 18 April, at approx. 11.45 in Cardiff, Michel Platini, President of UEFA announced the host of the European Football Championships in 2012.
