Polish police officers in Croatia

On the basis of the agreement on police cooperation between Poland and Croatia a patrol (two police officers) from Poland assists the Croatian police in cases regarding Polish citizens spending their holidays in resorts on the Adriatic coast.

Before they left for Croatia, Polish officers had undergone special trainings, among other things, with respect to international rules for the exchange of criminal information. Immediately after their arrival they attended a brief consular training at the Polish Embassy in Zagreb. Our officers are going to spend a week in Croatia. They will spend most of their time in Zadar, which is frequently visited by Polish tourists. However, if there is a need, they will also provide assistance to Polish nationals in other cities of the Croatian coast.

This is not the first time when Polish officers travel to another country to provide support to local police in cases regarding Polish citizens. Polish police officers have already paid visits to Great Britain (due to the large Polish minority) and helped German Police in providing security to the Football World Cup four years ago.

The visit of Polish police officers is one of the fruits of the Polish-Croatian agreement on the cooperation in counteracting crime, which was signed by Adam Rapacki, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Interior and Administration, and Ivica Buconjić, Deputy Minister of Interior of Croatia, on 9 July this year in Dubrovnik. This is the first visit of Polish officers to Poland. However, the cooperation with Croatian police officers is to be continued during next holidays.
