Meeting of Jerzy Miller with Cecilia Malmstrőm, EU Commissioner for Home Affairs
On 18 February 2010 Jerzy Miller, Minister of the Interior and Administration met with Cecilia Malmstrőm, EU Commissioner for Home Affairs.
During the meeting Jerzy Miller presented Polish expectations of the Action Plan for the Stockholm Programme, which is being developed by the European Commission, as well as planned changes to the operation of FRONTEX agency.
Moreover, the Minister put forward the priorities of Polish European policy on the reinforcement of internal security, with particular focus on the cooperation with Eastern Partnership countries.
Cecilia Malmstrőm reported on the ongoing work on initiatives aimed at strengthening the mechanisms of legal migration to EU Member States, combating illegal immigration, fight against trafficking in human beings and visa policy towards Eastern Europe countries.
Both parties expressed their readiness for cooperation on the development of the programme of Polish Presidency of the EU Council in 2011. There was also an exchange of opinions on the issues to be discussed at the meeting of EU Council for Justice and Home Affairs on 25-26 February 2010.
Jerzy Miller invited Cecilia Malmstrőm to pay a visit to Poland in June this year. The aim of the visit is to present the situation at Eastern external land border of the EU to the Commissioner.
Piotr Stachańczyk, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of the Interior and Administration also took part in the meeting.

FRONTEX- European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders of the Member States of the European Union coordinates operational cooperation between Member States in the field of external border management. Its main tasks include, among other things, assistance of Member States in training of national border guards and performance of risk analyses.
Stockholm programme specifies the main areas of development in terms of justice and home affairs. The aim of the Programme is mainly to facilitate cooperation of police and other services on the territory of the European Union.
